WHERE VINTAGE BUTTONS AND FANCY BITS UNITE TO CREATE SOMETHING UNIQUELY SPECIAL AND ONE OF A KIND.

Lennon Harper Design necklaces are each made to feel and look one of a kind, purely unique, and original. They are created from several vintage and new buttons, and repurposed fancy costume jewelry pieces. Most of the materials are sourced from estate sales, thrift stores or Etsy, but also come from friends looking through their jewelry boxes.

Owner + Designer

I’m Sara Swisher-Anderson, the creator, designer, and owner of Lennon Harper Designs (LHD). My daughters Lennon and Harper are the inspiration for everything I do, including being an entrepreneur and small business owner.

I was raised in Omaha, Nebraska by an incredibly strong and hard-working mother who could find time to knit beautiful sweaters and run marathons, all while managing her family and professional career serving non-profits; and a singer/songwriter, poet, musician, wood-working, creative father who could make you laugh until your sides hurt. (So, no real pressure to do anything special with my life!!)

I have been creating one of a kind statement necklaces made from vintage and new brooches, pins, baubles, buttons, and bits of fancy repurposed jewelry for the last 10 years. I’ve been lucky enough to design and create everything from wedding day statement pieces (featured in intimateweddings.com) to necklaces made from family heirlooms of loved ones that have passed, and, many gorgeous pieces just for fun.

Every time I wear one of my LHD custom designs, it’s inevitable that someone will ask me, “where did you get that?” and comment that it’s unique, original, and of course pretty!

I have spent most of my professional career working and traveling the country (and world) as a non-profit executive in higher education. Until recently, I found many reasons not to pursue my jewelry business aspirations. When friends would ask why I wasn’t focusing on selling my necklaces, I’d say things like “there’s not enough time,” “work is too busy,” “the kids need me,” “my husband travels all the time,” “we just moved,” “we have a new puppy,” … and the list goes on. These are all true. We have three dogs, a really amazing farmhouse in Westchester County, NY, and super busy lives. But, there’s ALWAYS time for creativity, inspiration, and love! And, that’s what LHD means to me.

I hope you enjoy what you see here and if you’re interested in custom design statement jewelry, please be in touch.

What People Are Saying

A spring day with a pink tee and grubby jeans…choose the button necklace with soft pastel colors dotted with bling. A summer day heading to a meeting with a crisp white linen shirt…it’s got to be the mauve, olive and taupe button necklace sprinkled with gold embellishments. A winter day bundled up with a black wool sweater…no doubt I reach for the necklace in honor of Grandmother Ruby. It’s meaningful and not only decorates my neck, it shines in my heart as well. Perfect black buttons of different textures. And what sits smack dab in the middle? Ruby’s watchface which was found at the bottom of her small, modest jewelry box after she passed away. No matter the season or occasion, Sara’s necklaces are pure joy. They make me smile on the inside, and on the outside when friends and colleagues admire!

“My Lennon Harper Designs custom necklace is truly one of a kind. The design process was collaborative and Sara made it so much fun! We worked together to select some pieces, and then I relied on her creativity to bring it all together. The end result is a fabulous piece that I can dress up with a little black dress for a night out - or dress down with a t-shirt and jeans for a more casual look. It’s definitely an attention-getter, but most of all, I love that it’s uniquely mine!”

“I have 2 LHD necklaces and each have a very different vibe to them which is why I chose them. One is more edgy w greys and golds - I love this for work, night time and winter months. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it because it’s my statement piece for the outfit. The other necklace has more whites, browns and golds - something more for summer. I had earrings that were too heavy for my ears so Sara used one to turn it into the focal point of the necklace which is awesome. I went to her design studio and we worked together to find other pieces I loved to compliment the earring and then she went to work. I wear that necklace more casually with whites and summery outfits. Both are incredibly unique and loved and worn completely differently…...but no matter where I go I get compliments and noticed!”
